Mr. Magramane Co-Chairs with His Belgian Counterpart the Sixth Session of Algerian-Belgian Political Consultations

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lounès Magramane, co-chaired today, Tuesday, September 22, in the Belgian capital, Brussels, alongside his Belgian counterpart, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation, Ms. Theodora Gentzis, the proceedings of the 6th session of Algerian-Belgian political consultations.

The proceedings of this session provided an opportunity to review the state of Algerian-Belgian relations across their various dimensions and focus areas, as well as to examine effective ways to ensure the implementation of the outcomes of the visit by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, to Brussels on March 31 and April 1, 2026, in line with the positive momentum recently experienced by bilateral relations and the available potential possessed by both countries.

In this context, the two sides stressed the necessity of strengthening economic, investment, commercial, and technical cooperation between the two countries to elevate it to the level of their shared ambitions, particularly in the fields of energy, agriculture, pharmaceutical industry, transport, port services, health, social security, education, and training. They also emphasized the importance of boosting bilateral trade and encouraging productive investments toward consolidating the existing economic partnership.

These consultations also provided an opportunity to exchange views and analyses on several regional and international issues of common interest, particularly developments in the Middle East—foremost among them the Palestinian cause—the Sahel-Saharan region, as well as Western Sahara.
