Visa Information – Embassy of Algeria in Croatia
General Conditions
Visa applicants must reside in Croatia. Applications must be submitted in person at the Embassy of Algeria in Zagreb by prior appointment.
Visa fees must be paid exclusively via bank transfer. Cash payments are no longer accepted.
- Visa Fee: 80 Euros for all types of visas (applicable to Croatian passport holders. Nationals of other countries should contact the Consular Section to inquire about applicable fees).
- Proof of payment is mandatory and must be submitted either in paper form with the visa application or sent in advance by email to:

General Documents Required for All Visas:

Visa application form (completed electronically in duplicate);
-
Passport valid for at least six (6) months from the date of application;

Two (2) recent, identical identity photos (3.5 x 4.5 cm);

Proof of residence in Croatia (for foreign nationals);
-
Travel insurance (covering a minimum of 30,000 Euros for accident and repatriation);

Copy of return flight ticket or reservation;
-
Proof of accommodation (hotel booking, etc.);

Proof of payment of visa fee.

Valid service, special, or ordinary passport;

Press visa application form (3 copies, completed and signed);

Cover letter from the media employer;

Invitation letter from Algerian partner (if applicable).

Family Visa:

Proof of family relationship with the host person/family in Algeria.

Business Visa:

Employer letter including company presentation, applicant’s position, and purpose of travel;

Invitation letter from Algerian partner (including applicant’s name, purpose of visit, and intended stay duration).

Tourist Visa:

Legalized accommodation certificate in Algeria (from municipality or police station);

OR certificate from a tour operator (for group travel);

OR confirmed hotel booking.

Study Visa:

Enrollment certificate from an Algerian educational institution (recognized by the state).

Work Visa:
-
Employer letter stating purpose of travel and applicant’s job functions;

Original temporary work permit issued by Algerian authorities;

Employer’s written commitment to repatriate the foreign worker upon contract termination.

Temporary Work Visa:

Same as above;
-
Employment contract (maximum 3 months);

Original temporary work permit;

OR service/consulting contract (does not require a permit).

Cultural Visa:
-
Invitation to participate in a cultural, scientific, or sports event;

Proof of sufficient financial means during stay.

Transit Visa:
-
Passport valid for more than 6 months and a valid visa for the final destination;

Proof of sufficient financial means for the transit period.
Important Notes:

Incomplete applications or those without proof of payment will not be accepted.

Processing time: up to 21 days.

Applications must be submitted in person; passport collection must also be done in person or via an authorized representative.

Visa Validity and Stay Period:

Validity of visa: 90 days, 180 days, 1 year, or 2 years;

Duration of stay per entry: Maximum 90 days (exceptional extensions are possible but may not exceed 90 days per entry);

Total annual stay: Maximum 180 days;

Transit visa: Valid for a stay of up to 7 days.
Entries:
Single or multiple entries depending on visa type and case-specific criteria.
Visa Exemption and Reciprocity:
Certain nationalities may be exempt from visa fees based on reciprocal agreements.
Emergency or On-Arrival Visas:
May be granted in exceptional cases by the Algerian authorities.
Tourist Visas via Agencies:
For organized tours, visas may be issued within 48 hours upon receipt of a complete application file by the consular mission.

Visa forms can be downloaded from the Embassy’s website and must be submitted in duplicate, accompanied by all required supporting documents.
