Mr. Lounès Magramane co-chairs in Rome, together with his Italian counterpart, the fifth session of the Algerian-Italian Strategic Dialogue

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lounès Magramane, co-chaired today, 30 July 2026, in the Italian capital, Rome, alongside his Italian counterpart, Mr. Riccardo Guariglia, the proceedings of the fifth session of the Algerian–Italian Strategic Dialogue on Bilateral Relations and Global Political and Security Issues.

The session, which brought together representatives of various sectors and institutions from both sides, was held within the framework of the regular political consultation mechanism between the two countries. It provided a renewed opportunity to assess the progress of bilateral cooperation in various fields and review the achievements made since the previous session held in Algeria in June 2025, in light of the outcomes adopted during the Italian Prime Minister’s latest official visit to Algeria in March 2026 and the fifth Intergovernmental Summit held in Rome in July 2025.

The proceedings enabled the two sides to assess the various aspects of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the political, security, economic, energy, agricultural, industrial and cultural fields. Both sides noted with satisfaction the positive results achieved in several vital areas.

They also discussed ways of advancing the strategic partnership between the two countries towards promising new horizons, in line with the course charted by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Ms. Giorgia Meloni.

In this regard, the two sides welcomed the progress made in implementing the Mattei Plan and reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating the implementation of joint strategic projects capable of establishing a new model of cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean.
