Mr. Attaf Receives a Phone Call from the Secretary General of the Arab League

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received a telephone call this evening from the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Nabil Fahmy.

During the call, the Secretary-General briefed the Minister of State on the action plan he intends to present with a view to revitalizing the League of Arab States and enabling it to respond more effectively to the various challenges and issues at stake. The Secretary-General also commended the historic and pivotal role that Algeria has consistently played in defending Arab causes.

For his part, Mr. Ahmed Attaf affirmed Algeria’s readiness and commitment to working closely with the Secretary-General and supporting him in carrying out the responsibilities entrusted to him in the service of vital Arab interests.

In view of the mounting challenges and growing threats facing Arab States at various levels, the Minister of State stressed the need to expedite the implementation of a far-reaching reform process aimed at revitalizing the system of joint Arab action, enabling it to safeguard the security, stability and sovereignty of the States of the region, while fulfilling the aspirations of Arab peoples for development and prosperity.
