Mr. Attaf Participates in a Meeting on Security and Development in the Sahel in New York

On the margins of his activities within the framework of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, participated in a meeting dedicated to the theme "Security and Development in the Sahel: The Case of the Confederation of Sahel States."

In a speech delivered on this occasion, the Minister of State recalled the depth of historical ties uniting Algeria with its neighboring Sahelian states, as well as its unwavering commitment to supporting the bonds of fraternity, solidarity, good neighborliness, and cooperation across all fields of mutual interest, in response to the aspirations of the region's peoples for development, stability, and prosperity.

The Minister of State reaffirmed Algeria's firm and clear commitment to respecting the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Sahel states, as well as their right to determine the appropriate means to ensure their security and development in cooperation with their partners, free from any foreign interference.

Furthermore, Mr. Ahmed Attaf highlighted the comprehensive approach consistently emphasized by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which is grounded in the close nexus between security and development to confront the multidimensional challenges facing the countries of the region, with the aim of advancing decisively and effectively toward a promising future for the entire region.
