Mr. Attaf partakes in Jordan’s ministerial meeting to support Al-Quds, its holy sites

Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, participated this morning in the Jordanian capital, Amman, in the proceedings of the "Ministerial Meeting to Support Jerusalem and its Holy Sites." The meeting included members of the Arab Ministerial Committee tasked with international action to confront illegal Israeli policies and measures in the occupied city of Jerusalem, alongside the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Turkey, and Malaysia.

This meeting comes in light of escalating Israeli violations against the holy city of Jerusalem and an increase in settler incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, amid occupation policies aimed at undermining the legal and historical character of Jerusalem and altering its demographic composition.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, the Minister of State warned against the continued persistence of the Israeli occupation in its plans aimed at Judaizing the city of Jerusalem and obliterating its Arab, Islamic, and Christian landmarks. He also called for collective political and diplomatic action to thwart these plans targeting the holy city of Jerusalem, emphasizing the necessity of activating available mechanisms to protect the rights of the Palestinian people and support the resilience of Jerusalemites by strengthening the role of national Palestinian institutions in the city.

Mr. Ahmed Attaf also reaffirmed Algeria's historical and principled position in supporting and championing the brotherly Palestinian people, as well as its readiness to engage in any efforts or initiatives aimed at protecting the city of Jerusalem from Israeli occupation assaults.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants adopted a statement confirming their condemnation of the practices and violations committed by Israel against the city of Jerusalem, emphasizing the need to intensify initiatives and coordinate efforts to counter Zionist arrogance and support the resilience of the Palestinian people by all available means.

The Minister of State, along with the other heads of delegations participating in the meeting, was received by His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of Jordan.
