Mr. Attaf Meets with the Elected Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

On the sidelines of his participation in the 23rd Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on August 27, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, met with the Secretary-General elect of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

The Minister of State congratulated the Secretary-General elect on his election, wishing him every success in carrying out his duties and reiterating Algeria's support and backing to enable him to fulfill his mission to the fullest extent.

The two officials also reviewed the current state of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its future prospects, emphasizing the importance of enhancing its performance and activating its role in confronting present challenges. This aims to strengthen the Organization's capacity to serve the interests of member states and defend their just causes—chief among them the Palestinian cause—embodying the founding principles and objectives of the Organization, and fostering unity and solidarity among the nations of the Islamic world.
