Mr. Attaf attends Arab committee meeting addressing illegal Zionist policies.

On the sidelines of his participation in the proceedings of the 166th Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, held in Cairo today, 7 September 2026, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Attaf, participated in the 11th Meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee Tasked with International Action to Confront Illegal Israeli Policies and Measures in the Occupied City of Jerusalem.
This meeting comes amid the escalating pace of Israeli attacks and violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Holy Jerusalem, as well as mounting threats targeting the Palestinian presence in the Holy City, including actions undermining its legal, historical, and demographic status.
The meeting provided an opportunity to follow up on the progress made in implementing the recommendations arising from the previous session, held on 5 August 2026 in the Jordanian capital, Amman. The meeting culminated in the adoption of a statement emphasizing the necessity of concerted Arab and international efforts to halt Israeli attacks and violations in occupied Jerusalem.
The statement underscored the importance of sustained action at various levels to provide necessary support to the Palestinian people and Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem, enabling them to counter Israeli policies and practices aimed at altering the city's character, identity, and legal status, while preserving the Palestinian presence and safeguarding the components of the Palestinian national project.
It also reiterated the imperative of intensifying Arab and international efforts to defend Holy Jerusalem, protect its Islamic and Christian holy sites, and counter Israeli plans to impose a new fait accompli in the city, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and international law.
