Reception of the Third and Final Group of Children from the Algerian Community Abroad under the 2026 Summer Camps Programme

Algeria welcomed today, Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers, the third and final group of the national diaspora children residing in France and several other European countries. This comes within the framework of implementing the national program approved by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which allocates a quota of 2,000 children and youth from the diaspora to benefit from summer camps.

This group includes 578 children and youth, who will be distributed to holiday and leisure centers in the wilayas of Algiers, Boumerdes, Oran, Bejaia, and Jijel, to benefit from a comprehensive educational, cultural, and recreational program throughout their stay.

This program falls within the framework of joint cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—represented by the State Secretariat for the National Community Abroad—and the Ministry of Youth, with the full mobilization of the relevant diplomatic and consular missions. These missions contributed to preparing for the operation and accompanying its various stages to ensure the best possible conditions for welcoming and caring for the nation's children residing abroad during their stay.

The special program for the diaspora youth for the year 2026 includes three summer camp sessions benefiting 2,000 children and youth, with 16 scheduled flights to transport participants and 8 reception and assembly centers allocated. The camps are distributed across 7 coastal cities and regions, allowing beneficiaries to experience an integrated pedagogical program combining historical, cultural, tourist, and recreational dimensions.

The program also includes organizing workshops and activities of an artistic and creative nature, alongside acquaintance and cultural exchange programs, enriching the participants' experience and opening spaces for communication, interaction, and the discovery of various aspects of the national heritage.

Throughout the second half of August 2026, this session provides participants with the opportunity to draw from the historical and cultural assets of their motherland, get a close-up look at its civilizational heritage, and benefit from various programmed activities in safe and suitable environments that combine entertainment, discovery, and communication.

It is to mention that the Ministry of Youth began, starting Wednesday, August 12, 2026, welcoming 26 children and youth of the national diaspora coming from Saudi Arabia, as well as a delegation of 36 children and youth from the Algerian diaspora residing in the western border regions of the Tunisian Republic, as part of the coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (represented by the State Secretariat for the National Community Abroad) and the Ministry of Youth to benefit from the summer camp program allocated for this group.

Additionally, approximately 37,000 children and adolescents will benefit from the 2026 summer camp program nationwide, while various summer programs organized by the Ministry of Youth target around half a million young people across the various wilayas of the country.
