Mr. Chaib chairs, via videoconference, an interactive meeting with members of the Algerian community residing in Australia

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, chaired today via videoconference an interactive meeting with members of the national community residing in Australia, in the presence of the Ambassador of Algeria in Canberra. This comes within the framework of regular engagement with the various components of the national community abroad, in implementation of the directives of the country's highest authorities aimed at strengthening the State's bond with its citizens abroad and listening to their concerns and aspirations.
On this occasion, the Secretary of State highlighted the unique nature of the national community's presence in Australia, given the geographical distance and the connection of this region to the national memory through descendants of Algerians exiled to New Caledonia during the colonial era, some of whom expanded their presence to Australia due to geographical proximity. He also emphasized the community's rich asset of students, experts, and entrepreneurs, reaffirming the importance of leveraging this human capital to bolster its contribution to national development and reinforce bilateral relations between Algeria and Australia.
Furthermore, the Secretary of State reiterated ongoing efforts to bring consular services closer to community members, enhance their protection and attachment to the homeland, and create favorable conditions for their active participation and contribution to national development.
The meeting served as an interactive forum for dialogue, allowing the administration to hear the concerns and priorities of community members and benefit from their suggestions. The Secretary of State urged them to maintain continuous contact and unity around the Embassy of Algeria in Canberra, emphasizing the commitment to utilize the outcomes of this session, alongside other consultative meetings with the diaspora, to develop tailored programs and initiatives responding to the needs and specificities of all components of the national community abroad.
