Mr. Attaf Holds Talks in New York with Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

Continuing his activities on the sidelines of his participation in the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly convened in New York this week, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the sisterly Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Abdisalam Abdi Ali. During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, commending the positive momentum characterizing relations between the two countries and agreeing on the importance of giving them new impetus and expanding them into new areas.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on several regional and international issues of common concern, particularly the situation in the Horn of Africa region and developments in the Red Sea, in addition to the latest developments regarding the internal situation in Somalia. In this regard, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to respecting Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, while rejecting foreign interference aimed at fueling tensions and instability in the Horn of Africa and Red Sea regions.
