November Brings Us Together in Zagreb: Celebrating the 71st Anniversary of the November 1st Revolution

On 10 November 2025, the Embassy of Algeria in Croatia shone during a celebration that brought the spirit of November into the present as it commemorated the seventy-first anniversary of the outbreak of the 1 November 1954 Revolution.

The evening began with a solemn standing for the Algerian and Croatian national anthems, before Her Excellency the Ambassador addressed the audience with a speech in which she stressed that November is not merely a date, but a compass of values and a continually renewed path of nation-building. She outlined the features of today’s Algeria in its paths of modernization and economic diversification, from renewable energies and green hydrogen to infrastructure and innovation, highlighting prospects for Algerian–Croatian cooperation in energy, logistics, sustainable tourism and information technology.

Mr. Frano Matušić, in his capacity as State Secretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, then delivered a speech on behalf of the Croatian government in which he discussed ways to strengthen practical partnership and open direct channels between economic actors and institutions in both countries, affirming the strength of the friendship and the convergence of views. Among the foremost attendees was former President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesić, which lent the evening a special symbolic dimension and reinforced its role as a bridge for deepening mutual understanding between the two countries.

On the cultural side, artist Lamia Aït Amara gave a remarkable performance of a selection of Algerian songs that the audience warmly engaged with, as applause rose and smiles intertwined, while guests discovered the flavors of Algerian cuisine through an array of traditional dishes and pastries that added warmth to the gathering.

The event brought together figures from various segments of Croatian society in politics, economics, media, religion and culture, alongside members of the accredited diplomatic corps and sons and daughters of the resident national community—a diverse attendance that reflected the vibrancy of Algerian–Croatian relations and the will of both sides to broaden the horizons of cooperation.
