Algeria celebrates the 63rd anniversary of the restoration of national sovereignty in Croatia

In an atmosphere filled with pride and honor, the Embassy of Algeria in the Republic of Croatia commemorated today, Saturday, the 63rd anniversary of the restoration of national sovereignty (July 5, 1962 – July 5, 2025), under the theme: “Our Algeria... the Legacy of Martyrs and the Glory of the Loyal.”

On this solemn occasion, the Embassy organized an official reception at its headquarters in the capital, Zagreb, in honor of members of the Algerian community residing in Croatia and their families.

The ceremony began with the playing of the Algerian national anthem—a symbolic moment that reflected the deep bond with the homeland and the values of the glorious November 1st Revolution. Following this, Her Excellency the Ambassador delivered a heartfelt speech expressing pride and gratitude for the immense sacrifices made by the martyrs and freedom fighters for Algeria to live free and independent.

In her address, the Ambassador saluted members of the Algerian community, describing them as the true ambassadors of Algeria. She emphasized the importance of their role in representing the homeland honorably within Croatian society and praised their steadfast commitment to their national identity despite the distance. She also renewed her call for them to strengthen ties and cooperation with the embassy and to actively contribute to the national development path led by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The Ambassador addressed the children and youth of the community with an encouraging message, urging them to hold on to their language, history, and national identity, so that Algeria remains present in their hearts for generations to come.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for mercy upon Algeria’s martyrs and for unity, security, and prosperity for the beloved homeland.
