Announcement for Members of the Algerian Community Abroad Regarding the Issuance of the Algerian Nationality Certificate

As part of efforts to simplify administrative procedures and digitize services provided to members of the national community abroad, the Embassy of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in Croatia informs all citizens that the Ministry of Justice has made a digital platform available to diplomatic and consular missions for the issuance of digitally signed Algerian nationality certificates.

Citizens wishing to obtain a nationality certificate are requested to visit the Embassy in person to submit their applications.

Required Documents for the Algerian Nationality Certificate Application

In accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 70-86 of 15 December 1970 on Algerian nationality, as amended and supplemented by Ordinance No. 05-01 of 27 February 2005, the required documents vary depending on the legal situation of the applicant:

1. Through the Father (Article 6 of Ordinance 70-86)

• Case 1: Born to a father of original Algerian nationality:

  • Birth certificate of the applicant

  • Birth certificate of the father

  • Birth certificate of the grandfather

• Case 2: Born to a father who acquired Algerian nationality:

  • Birth certificate of the applicant

  • Copy of the decree granting nationality to the father

• Case 3: Father's original Algerian nationality proven by court ruling:

  • Birth certificate of the applicant

  • Birth certificate of the father

  • Executory copy of the final court judgment

2. Through the Mother (Article 6 of Ordinance 70-86)

• Case 1: Born to a mother of original Algerian nationality:

  • Birth certificate of the applicant

  • Mother's Algerian nationality certificate or

  • Birth certificate of the mother + birth certificate of her father + birth certificate of her grandfather

• Case 2: Born to a mother who acquired Algerian nationality:

  • Birth certificate of the applicant

  • Copy of the decree granting nationality to the mother

• Case 3: Mother's original Algerian nationality proven by court ruling:

  • Birth certificate of the applicant

  • Birth certificate of the mother

  • Executory copy of the final court judgment

3. Original Nationality by Birth in Algeria (Article 7 of Ordinance 70-86)

• Case 1: Children born in Algeria to unknown parents:

  • Only the birth certificate of the applicant

• Case 2: Children born in Algeria to a named mother only:

  • Birth certificate of the applicant

  • Certificate from the Child Welfare Directorate confirming the identity of the mother is unknown

4. Nationality Established by Court Judgment (Article 36 of Ordinance 70-86)

• Birth certificate of the applicant

• Executory copy of the court ruling establishing original Algerian nationality
