Statement by His Excellency the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, 

National Community Abroad and African Affairs

During the Meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers

On the Occasion of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

And peace and blessings be upon His honest and trustworthy Prophet

Your Excellency, Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad;

Excellencies, Ministers;

Ladies and Gentlemen;

I would like to begin by extending my sincere thanks and appreciation to the sisterly Republic of Tunisia, and to my brother, His Excellency Minister Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, for chairing this important consultative meeting.

I also thank you for providing this renewed opportunity to consult and coordinate on the issues of concern to our Arab region, which will feature prominently on the agenda of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

As we meet today under highly sensitive regional circumstances, our region is paying the price for the absence of political solutions, the erosion of respect for international law, and the persistent selectivity in enforcing resolutions of international legitimacy.

Therefore, our responsibility must not be limited to merely taking stances; rather, we must move toward joint Arab action.

First, the Palestinian cause remains our central issue. What the occupied Palestinian territories are witnessing—particularly Holy Jerusalem and the West Bank—imperatively requires us to return the issue to the top of the international agenda and to confront all attempts to marginize, liquidate, or reduce it strictly to its humanitarian dimension.

Furthermore, developments on the ground require us to act with greater speed than standard political action. In this context, the E1 file stands out in particular, alongside political developments in Israel, especially the elections scheduled for October 27, 2026.

Hence, our collective Arab stance must be unequivocal in rejecting the transformation of these projects into permanent facts on the ground, and in demanding practical international action to prevent measures that undermine the possibility of establishing a contiguous and viable Palestinian state. Furthermore, we must condemn with equal force Israeli aggressions against the sovereignty of Arab states, particularly Syria and Lebanon.

Second, the continuous escalation in the Gulf region remains a source of constant concern for us. We reiterate our rejection and condemnation of every aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab states, as well as every attempt to turn our region into an arena for proxy wars. Furthermore, we must emphasize the necessity of Arab states being an integral part of any discussions or negotiations regarding future security arrangements, and that our priorities and concerns be fully taken into account.

Third, our preoccupation with the grave repercussions and recent escalation must not obscure the other crises racking several of our Arab states. From Libya and Sudan to Yemen and Somalia, we affirm that the common denominator in our approach to these crises should be supporting national political solutions, preserving state institutions, safeguarding their unity and sovereignty, and rejecting foreign interference.

In conclusion, our region does not need further promises, but rather practical steps. It also requires addressing the root causes of the crises racking it. From this perspective, Algeria looks forward to a united, proactive, and effective Arab presence during the 81st session—a presence that defends our rights, upholds international law, and simultaneously opens the doors to dialogue and political solutions.
