Mr. Chaib Holds a Videoconference Meeting with Members of the Algerian Community in Central and South America

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, held today, Sunday, September 27, 2026, a virtual meeting via videoconferencing with a group of members and active actors of the national community—representing various groups and segments—residing in Central and South American countries, in the presence of the heads of accredited diplomatic missions in the region.

This meeting comes within the framework of the series of periodic meetings conducted by the Secretary of State with members of the national community residing in various regions of the world, to assess their conditions and concerns, and to listen to their proposals and aspirations.

This meeting held particular importance given the specific nature of the region, its vast geographical expanse, and the distance between the places of residence of Algerian citizens and the headquarters of diplomatic and consular representations. Discussions notably addressed issues related to consular and administrative services, as well as ways to streamline, facilitate access to, and improve them, alongside a number of concerns and proposals put forward by the participants.

In his response to the various issues raised, the Secretary of State affirmed that enhancing the care provided to Algerian citizens residing abroad remains at the core of the efforts exerted by public authorities, particularly through simplifying procedures, continuing the modernization and digitization of consular services, and bringing them closer to beneficiaries.

He also emphasized the importance of bolstering the connection of community members with their homeland and enhancing their participation in various initiatives and programs directed toward them, allowing the country to leverage the diversity of their skills and expertise, which represent a significant human asset to serve the nation and contribute to its development process.
