Mr Attaf meets his Libyan counterpart

As part of his participation in the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, met with Mr. Taher Salem El-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Libya. The meeting touched upon the latest developments in Libya and efforts to advance the political process, paving the way for the restoration of security and stability in the country.

On this occasion, the Minister of State reaffirmed Algeria's firm position in support of Libya's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He stressed the necessity of reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the Libyan crisis based on the principle of a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process, while preserving the unity of the state and its institutions, in line with the aspirations of the brotherly Libyan people for stability and prosperity.

The two sides also agreed on the need to step up consultation and coordination and to strengthen joint efforts to address the common challenges prevailing in the Sahel-Saharan region, with a view to contributing to consolidating the foundations of peace, security, and stability in the region as a whole.
