Mr. Attaf Holds Talks with His Saudi Counterpart

On the margins of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, held talks with His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the latest developments in the Middle East region and discuss a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The two ministers exchanged views and assessments regarding developments in the Sahel region, particularly in light of the multidimensional challenges it faces. In this regard, they emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination and consultation between the two countries, alongside supporting efforts aimed at consolidating security, stability, and development, while stressing the necessity of addressing the root causes of the crises in the region.

Furthermore, the two ministers discussed the latest political and security developments in sisterly Libya, reiterating the importance of reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the Libyan crisis based on Libyan ownership and leadership of the settlement process, in a manner that preserves Libya's unity and safeguards its sovereignty and territorial integrity. They also touched upon the efforts exerted by neighboring countries in support of the Libyan political process, contributing to creating optimal conditions to enable the Libyan people to overcome their crisis and realize their aspirations for security, stability, and development.
