Mr. Attaf Holds Talks with Angola’s Minister of External Relations in New York

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, held talks with the Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Angola, Mr. Téte António, on the margins of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In this context, the two ministers addressed the positive momentum characterizing the fraternal relations uniting the two countries, as well as the imperative of deepening them and expanding their prospects into priority areas for both nations. The two sides also exchanged views on developments in the situation prevailing in the Middle East and its impact on African economies, stressing the importance of enhancing consultation at both the bilateral and continental levels to anticipate these repercussions and address them in a manner that safeguards the interests of the continent's countries and peoples.

Furthermore, the discussions touched upon the situation in the Sahel region and the necessity of strengthening coordination and consultation, particularly within African frameworks, to confront the security and development challenges facing the region, alongside developments regarding the Western Sahara issue, where both parties reaffirmed their support for the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.
