Mr. Attaf Holds Talks in New York with His Russian Counterpart

As part of the fourth day of his participation in the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, met with his counterpart from the Russian Federation, Mr. Sergey Lavrov.

The meeting was devoted to discussing ways to continue strengthening the relations of friendship and bilateral cooperation across all fields, as well as expanding the horizons of economic partnership and trade exchanges between the two countries.

The two sides also engaged in an in-depth exchange on international and regional issues of common concern, agreeing to maintain consultation and coordination regarding developments in the Middle East, the Sahel-Saharan region, and the question of Western Sahara—whether at the bilateral level or within multilateral organizations. They emphasized the importance of promoting avenues for dialogue and political solutions in respect of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

The two ministers also addressed ongoing preparations for the third Russia-Africa Summit, scheduled to be held in Moscow in October 2026, as well as the Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum at the level of foreign ministers, slated for this coming December.
